If you haven't started reading Frank Turk's site, you really should. Frank's love for Jesus and His church is abundantly evident, and his writings show that he thinks a lot about the state of the church today.
One of his recent series tackles the question, Can I leave my church?
This has been a fascinating read.
ReplyDeleteThis whole discussion is basically qualifying God's Grace.
The questions that are swirling around in my mind are these...
Isn't God's church the body of "believers" on this earth and not just people who assemble in a building?
Are we still saved if we do not attend church but gather within our home together as a family to have church?
If that is true why did Jesus says to so many that he touched and saved in the Bible only, "Go and sin no more." Instead of, "Go and sin no more and find a church and follow the church rules and if you don't go to a building to worship me my grace means nothing?"
I have a hard time believing that we as Christians HAVE to drive to a building to worship. It's not true. That place is not the church. The Believers are his church. Just because there aren't other families there doesn't make them any less forgiven or any less the body of Christ.
