The U.K.-based Telegraph has lists of the top 100 conservatives and liberals.

The top five cons:
  1. Rudy Giuliani
  2. General David Patraeus
  3. Matt Drudge
  4. Newt Gingrich
  5. Rush Limbaugh
The top five libs:
  1. Bill Clinton
  2. Al Gore
  3. Mark Penn
  4. Hillary Clinton
  5. Nancy Pelosi

Indiana has someone in the top twenty on each list: Congressmen Mike Pence (#19) for the conservatives, Senator Evan Bayh (#10) for the liberals.

Toby Harnden explains why George W. Bush comes in at #21: "the list is about the future rather than the past."

  1. Hi, Matt. There are two other ex-Hoosiers on the lists. At No. 25 on the conservative lists is R. Emmett Tyrell, founder o The American Spectator. He first published the magazine in Bloomington. At No. 29 on the liberal list is Vernon Jordan, from Fort Wayne.
