Palin abused her power

While the Alaska governor was busy questioning Senator Obama's "associations," she was being questioned about her own activities. The report is out:
Gov. Sarah Palin abused the powers of her office by pressuring subordinates to try to get her former brother-in-law, a state trooper, fired, an investigation by the Alaska Legislature has concluded. The inquiry found, however, that she was within her right to dismiss her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, who was the trooper’s boss.
And this is someone whom the evangelical community is supposed to embrace wholeheartedly? If you're going to ask people to look closely at the actions of others, you better have your own house in order. Twigs and logs in the eye, and all that.

  1. The report found that she acted totally within the scope of the law. She'd transferred Monegan to other duties but he RESIGNED. And Wooten TASED a kid.

If anything, we should be faulting her with NOT DOING ENOUGH to remove that man from duties.

  3. Luftmensch: Do you really want a vice president who believes it's okay to pursue personal vendettas?

  5. I thought the finding of the committee was a bit wishy-washy for exactly the reasons demonstrated above. Palin's supporters can argue that she acted within her rights, and her detractors can argue that she abused power. Everyone wins a position from which to argue and nothing is, technically, resolved.
