emerging Indy

The emerging church in Indianapolis is having the spotlight shone on it, courtesy of Indy.com. Quite frankly, I'm glad to see this site, which caters to the twenty- and thirty-something crowd, willing to write about church-related issues. You know, moving beyond the usual stuff like where to eat, which movie to see, and at which bar to hang out.

In case you're interested, I once attended the church where Shane Fuller used to pastor the youth. It's definitely a different kind of church than the one he pastors now.

I'm glad you enjoyed the article.

When I read this story, my eyes were opened. This is nothing like the congregations I knew while growing up. When I gave up on my LC-Missouri Synod congregation, this sort of thing was exactly what I was needing.

By the way, are you a registered user of indy.com? If so, you'll notice that I commented on a couple of the websites mentioned in Good Brownie. Look for JL Kato. Several Good Brownie posts would make excellent entries for indy.com (though I should warn you to expect a lot of yahoo comments from the public).

  2. Jawn: yep, there are all sorts of flavors of churches out there. I attended a Christian school all through elementary, middle, and high. I was fortunate in that I was exposed to all kinds of churches, since the school wasn't based from a single church like so many Christian schools are, but had become it's own entity with a superintendent and a school board. I had a great mix of friends from Pentecostal, Baptist, Lutheran, and Old Order Brethren churches.

I've gone to indy.com on occasion. I'll definitely keep an eye out for you. And, Jawn, you're too kind...
